Capturing Captions, 2021
Capturing Captions was made by Leah Mackin as an Artist-in-Residence at The Printery Book Arts Lab at Central Print in St Louis, MO. In December 2021, Mackin spent two weeks utilizing the type, light, and space to conceptualize and letterpress print this project, based on online and in-person research at The St. Louis Mercantile Library’s Herman T. Pott National Inland Waterways Library collection materials.
The artists' book features a woven paper binding structure, embossed titling, unique cyanotype, variety of papers and is letterpress printed with handset metal type.
